11-mile diversion route in place as main Cambridgeshire village road closes

A Cambridgeshire village road will be closed for more than two weeks from Monday (January 13). High Street/Longstowe Road, in Little Gransden, will be closed for roadworks.

The works will be carried out by Cambridgeshire County Council, which is carrying out carriageway resurfacing. The work is scheduled to take place between 7.30am and 5pm.

The closure is due to last until Friday, January 31. Roadworks and a diversion route will be in place, with motorists advised to plan their journeys accordingly if travelling during this period.

A spokesperson for Cambridgeshire County Council said: “High Street/Longstowe Road, Little Gransden is closed to all motor vehicles today until the 31st January for works.”

The diversion route will take motorists down Longstowe Road, Main Road, Little Gransden Lane, Crow Tree Street, Meadow Road, Cambridge Road, Ermine Street, Royston Road, Old North Road, Ermine Way, School Lane, High Street and Rushbrook Close. It is estimated it will add around 11 miles and 23 minutes onto journeys.
