2,000 homes in Douglas without water as Uisce Éireann works to restore supply

Uisce Éireann is working to restore supply for up to 2,000 homes and businesses in Douglas following a burst mains pipe.

This afternoon, a water mains pipe burst along South Douglas Road and the outage is affecting properties on South Douglas Road, Douglas Road, and surrounding areas.

The utility operator has warned that it will take several hours to repair the burst pipe and restore supplies. It’s expected that water supplies will return to normal levels by early tomorrow morning.

Traffic management plans have been put in place to ensure the safety of the crews carrying out the repairs and the safety of the public. These plans will be clearly signposted.

Water Operations Lead for Uisce Éireann, James Goulding, said: “We understand the inconvenience when a burst of this nature occurs, and we are working to repair the burst as quickly as possible.

“We anticipate that water will be restored by early tomorrow morning. Again, we thank the community for their understanding at this time.”

Vulnerable customers who have registered with Uisce Éireann receive direct communications from us for planned and unplanned outages lasting more than four hours.
