Drivers will need to navigate around a number of closures across Kent’s major motorways and A-roads this weekend. Various projects are planned on key roads including the A2, A249, M20 and M2 between Friday (January 10) and Sunday (January 12).
On both Saturday (January 11) and Sunday night, the west quadrant of the A2 Brenley Corner near Faversham will be shut. The closure will be in place from 8pm to 6am each night for maintenance works.
Over towards Sittingbourne, improvements continue at the A249 Grovehurst Road, which will require a series of closures throughout the start of the year. Both the northbound exit slip and the southbound entry slip for Grovehurst Road are currently closed until Saturday, January 18.
Full details on all of the closures for the A249 Grovehurst Road works this year can be found here. This Saturday, the QEII Bridge at the Dartford Crossing will also see the first of three overnight weekend closures due to take place in January.
The crossing between Essex and Kent will shut from 10pm to 5am for essential maintenance work on bridge bearings and expansion joints. Closures will impact both the west and east tunnel as well. Full details on all of this can be found here.
