Ambulance involved in crash on major A-road on Cambs border

An ambulance was involved in a crash with another car on the A1 on the Cambridgeshire border yesterday afternoon (January 7). One person was taken to hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries.

Emergency services were called to the A1 Great North Road near the Wyboston Lakes at around 1.40pm. The road was closed for a short period of time to allow emergency services to attend to the scene.

The road was soon reopened after the collision was cleared.

A spokesperson for Bedfordshire Police said: “We were called at around 1.40pm to reports of a two-vehicle collision involving a car and an ambulance on the A1 Great North Road, close to Wyboston Lakes.

“The road was closed for a short period of time while emergency services attended the scene. It has since been reopened. One person was taken to hospital with serious non-life threatening injuries.”
