Appeal as racist graffiti appears in ‘alleyways, footpaths and under bridges’ in Bridgnorth

Police have launched a hate crime probe after racist graffiti appeared in streets around Bridgnorth. The graffiti first appeared in Inage Lane on Thursday, January 9.

White spray paint had been used to draw an offensive symbol on the footpath leading towards the town centre. More racist scribbles appeared the following day in St Leonards Close.

In this case, white paint had been used to write a racist message on a stone wall. Police have also received further reports of graffiti appearing in alleyways, footpaths and under bridges in the market town.

Sergeant Steve Mason, from South Shropshire’s Safer Neighbourhood Team, said: “We’re very keen to find those responsible for the graffiti that has appeared in the town – which has caused stress.

“Officers will now be carrying out high visibility patrols in these areas, and I would encourage anyone who has any concerns about this to speak to us. We would also like to speak to anyone who may have information that could help us with our investigation so we can find those responsible.”
