A driver has been arrested after members of the public spotted an Audi A6 travelling in a dangerous manor in Staffordshire. Police pulled the car over in the snow and found the driver to be almost three times over the drink-drive limit.
Officers say the 32-year-old man blew a reading of 100ml, with a limit of 35ml. He was arrested on suspicion of drink driving driving without insurance.
Officers shared a picture of the Audi parked in the snow at around 10.30pm on Wednesday, January 8, following the stop in Boundary Street, Stoke-on-Trent. A spokesperson for Staffordshire Police added in a statement on Thursday, January 9: “A man has been arrested on suspicion of drink driving after officers stopped a car in Stoke-on-Trent.

“At about 10.35pm last night (Wednesday, January 8), we were called to Boundary Street in Hanley following reports of an Audi A6 being driving dangerously. Officers who were in the area went to the scene and found out the car was uninsured.
“A breath test was carried out at the roadside, where the driver blew a reading of 100. The legal limit is 35. A 32-year-old man, from Stoke-on-Trent, has been arrested on suspicion of drink driving. He remains in custody.”
They continued: “We’re continuing to target those putting themselves and others at risk on our roads proactively across Staffordshire. Freezing temperatures are expected to stay until this afternoon, and we’re urging people to take extra care on the roads and make sure they take extra safety precautions to stay safe.
“Those getting behind the wheel while under the influence of drink or drugs are being targeted.”
