Audi spotted ‘driving dangerously’ on winter-hit Hanley street

Police were called out to a city centre road to reports of a car ‘driving dangerously’ on the winter-hit street. Now officers sent to Boundary Street say the Audi A6 is off the road and a man in custody.

The alarm had been raised at around 10.35pm last night. Today Staffordshire Police has confirmed cops sent to the scene off Waterloo Road in Hanley found the vehicle wasn’t insured.

Meanwhile the driver also gave a roadside breath test. Subsequently a 32-year-old man, from Stoke-on-Trent, was arrested on suspicion of drink-driving.

The man remains in custody today. Meanwhile police have urged drivers to take care on North Staffordshire’s roads as the area continues to be hit by freezing temperatures.

A spokesman said: “We’re continuing to target those putting themselves and others at risk on our roads proactively across Staffordshire.

“Freezing temperatures are expected to stay until this afternoon, and we’re urging people to take extra care on the roads and make sure they take extra safety precautions to stay safe. Those getting behind the wheel while under the influence of drink or drugs are being targeted.”
