Ayrshire man missing since New Year’s day as cops launch urgent search

A desperate appeal has been launched to find a man who vanished at New Year. William Reid has been reported missing from his home in Stevenston, Ayrshire.

The 36-year-old was last seen by his family on New Year’s Day, Wednesday, January 1 and he travelled to the Cumnock area that evening.

The last reported sighting of William was the following day in Muirkirk on Thursday, January, 2.

He is described as white, 6ft 2 inches tall and of medium build with short, dark-coloured hair. When he was last seen he was wearing grey shorts and a hooded top.

Sergeant Mark Wason said: “We are becoming increasingly concerned for William’s wellbeing and ask anyone who has seen him since Thursday, 2 January, 2025, or who knows of his present whereabouts to contact us as soon as possible.

Anyone with information should contact police via 101 and quote incident number 1705 of 7 January, 2025.”
