Birmingham street blocked after driver ‘smashes into cars’ before ‘leaving scene’

A residential street in Harborne was blocked this morning after a driver reportedly smashed into stationary cars before leaving the scene. Court Oak Road, between Hampton Court Road and Grosvenor Road, was shut following the incident which happened shortly after 10am today, January 4.

Police said the incident, near Queens Park, involved “a number of cars”. Officers urged anyone who might have information to contact West Midlands Police.

West Midlands Roads said the incident caused “major disruption”. It wrote on social media platform X:” Major Disruption, Court Oak Road, Harborne. Police Incident.

“Road blocked between Hampton Court Road and Grosvenor Road. Plan Ahead.”

A West Midlands Police spokesperson added: “We were called to Court Oak Road, Harborne shortly after 10am today (4 January) after a collision involving a number of cars. A car was reported to have hit a number of stationary cars before leaving the scene.

“Enquiries are ongoing and anyone who saw what happened can contact us via 101 or Live Chat quoting log number 975 of today.”
