A teenage boy has been arrested after armed police carrying guns patrolled Middlesbrough streets this weekend.
Officers received a report that a man was threatened with a bladed weapon at around 2.30pm on Sunday, January 12, on St James Mews, Middlesbrough. The suspect had made off from the scene, and no one was injured.
Cleveland Police confirmed enquiries led to armed officers attending a number of addresses in Middlesbrough and now a 16-year-old male has been arrested on suspicion of affray and possession of a class B drug.
Teesside Live previously reported six armed police officers and three Cleveland Police vehicles were spotted in the town’s Crescent Road, Tavistock Street and Berner Street on Sunday afternoon. Teesside Live was first informed that the armed convoy had stopped in Crescent Road around 3pm.
The officers then moved on from there to nearby Tavistock Street and then Berner Street. One witness said: “They were driving around really slowly all geared up.”
