A Cambridgeshire village post office will be closing until further notice later this month. The branch, in Stretham, is due to shut at 8pm on Saturday, January 18.
Customers were informed of the news in a letter that was sent to them. It is thought that the shop will continue to trade as normal, with the post office closure due to be temporary.
The company said it is looking at options to reinstate a Post Office service to the community. In the meantime, customers are being advised to use nearby alternative branches, including the ones on High Street in Haddenham and St Marys Street in Ely.
In a statement, the Post Office said: “Following the resignation of the postmaster, the branch will be closing on Saturday 18 January 2025 at 8pm.
“I would like to assure you that we are working hard to keep any period of closure to a minimum and we are currently investigating the options available which will enable us to reinstate a Post Office service to the local community. In exploring this, it is important that any future service is sustainable for the person operating the service, and for Post Office Limited.”
Further updates and more details about the closure can be found on the Post Office website here.
