CCTV images have been released in a bid to trace a van driver in connection with a Leicester collision which left a man “seriously” injured. The vehicle reportedly left the scene of the incident, with police still looking for witnesses.
The collision happened just before 7pm on Friday (January 3) when the victim, a man in his 70s, was struck by a vehicle believed to be a van at the junction of Evington Lane, Evington Road and Evington Drive in Leicester. The man suffered “serious” injuries in the collision but they are are not believed to be life-threatening or life-changing. He remains in hospital receiving treatment.
Officers from Leicestershire Police have now released CCTV of a “distinctive” Maxus van they wish to trace in connection with the incident. They have made a direct appeal to the van’s driver for information.

Detective Sergeant Jack Cornick, from the force’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit (SCIU), said: “From enquiries carried out since the incident occurred, we believe the driver of this van has information that could help our investigation.
“It’s quite distinctive in its appearance and is a Maxus van. If you were the driver of that vehicle, or you know who was, then please get in touch.
DS Cornick is also appealing for witnesses to come forward: “I’m also continuing to appeal for anyone who witnessed the collision or who has footage but has not yet contacted police to do so.”
