Child injured in Glasgow house fire along with two others as cat dies in blaze

Three people were evacuated and a cat died after a fire tore through a house in Glasgow on Saturday evening (January 11).

A child was among the casualties as the three were treated by paramedics following the fire. Images from the scene showed a tall plume of smoke billowing from the property on Fairbairn Path in Bridgeton as the fire tore through the roof of the home.

Three fire engines were on the scene in Glasgow’s east end as firefighters fought the blaze. Firefighters were on the scene for more than four hours.

A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “We were alerted at 4.45pm on Saturday, January 11, to reports of a dwelling fire on Fairbairn Path, Glasgow. Operations Control mobilised three fire appliances to the scene.

“There were three casualties, including one child, who were taken into the care of the Scottish Ambulance Service. Sadly, one cat died at the scene.

“Crews left the scene at around 8.50pm after ensuring the area was made safe.”
