An investigation into a Glasgow funeral director is ongoing more than eight months after the funeral parlour was raided.
A. Milne Independent Funeral Directors on Balornock Road in Springburn was subject to an 11-day police sweep in May 2024 following numerous reports of alleged missing ashes and funds used for pre-paid funeral plans by A MIlne Independent Funeral Directors. 19 urns were recovered during the search — as exclusively reported at the time by Glasgow Live — after a further eight were handed over to Argyll and Bute Council.
Police launched a major probe, named Operation Koine, which saw three people were arrested and released pending investigation in the following months.
In May, police said the search was conducted “with regard to the storage/return of cremated remains and allegations of financial misconduct.” The funeral directors has since closed and was permanently excluded from the National Association of Funeral Directors.
In July, police described the probe as “a very complex investigation which has had a big impact on those families affected”.
Two people, a 56-year-old man and a 55-year-old woman were arrested in July 2024. In August, a second woman, aged 37, was arrested. All were released pending further investigation.
A spokesperson for Police Scotland said enquiries remain ongoing in the case.
