The property sustained limited damage during the incident, with a majority of the damages being caused by the smoke.
After receiving treatment at the scene, the man was handed over to the care of the National Ambulance Service crews. It’s understood he was taken to hospital as a precaution and is expected to recover fully.
It’s been a busy few days for the Cork City Fire Brigade, which has played a key role in keeping the city and surrounding areas running during the severe weather.
Crews have been providing assistance to areas worst hit by the heavy snowfall, and at the weekend, they were dispatched to battle a large commercial fire in Glanmire.
Six units from Cork City Fire Brigade responded to the incident and the fire was brought under control quickly. Five trucks and a car were destroyed in the blaze and the firefighters worked well into the night ensuring the area was made safe.
