Coventry man arrested over ‘communicating sexually’ with schoolgirl

A man has been arrested on suspicion of communicating sexually with a child in Coventry. He was detained on Paradise Street on New Years Day (January 1).

Officers arrested the 28-year-old man, who has not been named, on suspicion of engaging in sexual communications with a child, West Midlands Police said. It followed a sting by the Ghosts Online Child Protection Team.

He is alleged to have been sending sexually explicit messages to what he believed to be a 14-year-old girl, the Ghosts Online Child Protection Team said. As of today (January 6), the man has been bailed with the investigation into the alleged offences said to be ‘continuing.’

In a statement to CoventryLive, West Midlands Police said: “We attended an address on Paradise Street in Coventry on Wednesday (January 1) after reports of online sexual offences.

“A 28-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of sexual communications with a child. He has been bailed with conditions as enquiries continue.”
