Coventry woman receives ‘Good Citizen Award’ for her ‘countless’ work to help communities

A woman from Coventry who has dedicated years to helping others has been presented with a Good Citizen Award by Coventry City Council. Dianne Tolley from Canley received the award from Lord Mayor Cllr Mal Mutton yesterday (January 14).

She was chosen due to her outstanding work in the community, advocacy for others, and devoting countless hours to improving local services for all. She helped the NHS roll out the 111 helpline and spent many years sharing a Coventry perspective with the Secretary of State for Health.

Since 2013, Dianne has also been a bus champion, where she helped spread the message about network changes to those in the community and volunteered for the Chair of the Canley Stakeholder Group for over 45 years.

By helping to bring people together, Dianne has been described as a ‘lynchpin for her neighbourhood’ and a ‘voice for the voiceless’. Diane also regularly addresses hundreds of people at Warwick Medical School about the importance of dignity and compassion for patients and those around them.

Part of the citation from the Lord Mayor for her Good Citizen Award says, “Diane is a wonderful citizen and shines brightly in her community. Diane never gives up trying to work with others and always wants the best for the community, especially the residents. She is a worthy recipient of this Coventry Good Citizen Award.”

If you know anyone in Coventry who should receive a Good Citizen Award, you can nominate them on the online form via the Coventry City Council website here.
