A driver was taken to hospital after a car crashed into a Derby events venue. Derbyshire police were called to Arleston Hall at around 6am this morning (Wednesday, January 8) to reports of a car smashing into the side of the events space.
The driver of the vehicle was taken to the hospital for “non-serious injuries”. The collision on Arleston Lane, Sinfin, was reported to Derbyshire police at 6.05am.
A spokesperson for Derbyshire police said: “The female driver of the car has been taken to hospital with what are believed to be non-serious injuries. Structural engineers are attending the site to assess the damage, and recovery of the vehicle is ongoing.”
The owner of Arleston Hall for the past five years, Sohan Perdesi said: “My son rang me at about six in the morning telling me I needed to get down there. Obviously, it was a big concern, then we got down there and saw the big hole in the side of the wall. At first I thought it might have been a burglary but I didn’t expect this.

“We’ve had to have the builders down to make it secure and board it up. We don’t know how much damage has been done yet, a substantial amount of the wall will need redoing. We have had a structural engineer out to assess it, but we are waiting to hear back.
“Providing that the structural report is fine, we might still be able to continue with our bookings but we need to wait and see whether there has been structural damage or not. It’s obviously a shock. I thought there might be a bit of damage to the exterior, but I didn’t think it went straight through the wall.”
Mr Perdesi expressed that he won’t know the full extent of the damage until the structural engineer’s report has come back, therefore leaving the owner in the dark as to what will need repairing and whether to cancel this weekend’s upcoming events.
