A Derbyshire councillor, driving instructor and private hire driver has appeared in court charged with sexually assaulting a woman. Councillor Malcolm Gee, aged 76, of Briar Close, Newhall, appeared in Southern Derbyshire Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, December 12, 2024.
The court listing says that Gee is alleged to have “intentionally touched a woman aged 16 or over and that touching was sexual when she did not consent and you did not reasonably believe that she was consenting”. Gee has pleaded not guilty and a trial is set to take place at Derby Crown Court on Thursday, April 24.
Gee declined to comment when contacted by the Local Democracy Reporting Service. Gee has been a member of South Derbyshire District Council representing the Woodville ward for Labour since 2019 and been a member of Woodville Parish Council for nearly 20 years.
He was chairman of the district council from 2019 until 2024 and is currently a member of the authority’s planning, licensing and scrutiny committees. Gee is a self-employed driving instructor and is also a South Derbyshire registered private hire vehicle driver, his district council profile shows.
His district council profile details: “My work at East Midlands Airport, lasting over 20 years has enabled me to become a team player and serving as a Governor at Granville Academy has given me the experience of seeing young adults mature into parenthood.”
