A Lanarkshire road is closed after a building burst into flames in a busy town centre.
Emergency services rushed to the Westwood Square area of East Kilbride at around 5.30pm on Wednesday, January 15, and remain at the scene as firefighters tackle the blaze.
Officers have sealed off Redcliffe Drive, urging motorists to find alternative routes. Footage sent to GlasgowLive shows thick plumes of smoke billowing from a building.
Bright orange flames could also be seen taking hold of a premises as emergency crews attempt to bring the fire under control.
An eyewitness said: “There was a large quantity of smoke coming from the chimney and then the building burst into flames.”
A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: “Around 5.30pm on Wednesday, 15 January, 2025, we received a report of a fire at Westwood Square, East Kilbride. Emergency services are in attendance.
“Redcliffe Drive is currently closed. Motorists are asked to find alternative routes.”
