Police Scotland has confirmed that a busy East Kilbride road has re-opened after a massive blaze ripped through a restaurant.
Emergency services rushed to the Westwood Square area of the Lanarkshire town just after 5.30pm on Wednesday, January 15.
Redcliffe Drive was sealed off by police during the incident and traffic was diverted while firefighters extinguished the flames. The road was reopened by 8pm.
Footage sent to Glasgow Live showed thick plumes of smoke emerging from the building, with bright orange flames taking hold of the building.
Thankfully, in an update on Thursday morning, police confirmed there were no injuries. The fire is also not being treated as suspicious.
A spokesperson for the force said: “Around 5.30pm on Wednesday, January 15, 2025 we were made aware of a fire at a business premises in Westwood Square, East Kilbride.
“Emergency services attended and the fire was extinguished by the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service.
“There were no reported injuries and the fire is not suspicious.”
