Emergency services have raced to an ongoing incident outside of the Omni Centre.
Police Scotland, the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service and the Scottish Ambulance Service are understood to be in attendance at Greenside Place.
Those travelling through or to the city centre location have been warned to expect disruption as road closures are in place on Leith Street and around Picardy Place.
It is understood the incident is related to a ‘medical matter.’
Edinburgh Trams have warned commuters travelling to the airport from Picardy Place to expect disruption.
They originally said on X: “Emergency services at Picardy Place have stopped trams proceeding airport bound.”
They later added: “Emergency vehicles have now moved and trams are running with extended wait times.”
Meanwhile Lothian Buses have also issued a warning to travellers to expect diversions around Leith Street.

They said: “Due to a road closure buses are unable to serve Leith street and are instead diverted via Montrose Terrace and Waterloo Place citybound only until further notice.”
The number one, four, five, 19, 34 and 45 are understood to be impacted.
