Edward Roberts died from serious head injuries in Lincoln as tragic new details emerge

An inquest into the death of Edward Roberts, also known as Eddie, has been opened after the 55-year-old was found dead in Lincoln. Officers were called to Carholme Road shortly before 11.30pm on Sunday, December 8, and found Mr Roberts with serious head injuries.

He died at the scene. Coroner Paul Smith for the area of Greater Lincolnshire opened the inquest into Mr Robert’s death at Lincoln Coroner’s Court on Monday, January 6. Coroner’s officer Tracy Cox explained that Mr Roberts had lived alone and worked as a lorry driver.

She said: “On the ninth day of December 2024 the deceased died at Carholme Road and death was verified by Dr Mike Hughes.” A post-mortem examination was carried out on December 9, 2024, by Dr Frances Hollingbury.

The medical cause of death is believed to be 1A head injury, further pending tests. The inquest has been suspended due to a pending police investigation. It is expected to readjourn on June 10, 2025.

Lincolnshire Police confirmed on Tuesday, December 10, that Max Skidmore, 37, had been charged with manslaughter in connection with the incident.
