Eight weeks of major roadworks on key Derby suburb route

Eight weeks of major roadworks on a key route in a Derby suburb will get under way next month. Drivers using the road have been warned it will be closed overnight.

The project will see a large section of Nottingham Road in Chaddesden resurfaced, with work taking place overnight to minimise disruption. Road closures will be in place from 10pm-6am, Monday to Friday, but the road will remain open on Saturday and Sunday nights where possible.

Signs for a diversion will be in place along the A52. Derby City Council says the work will take place in phases, with closures only covering a portion of the road as follows:

  • Phase 1 – Chaddesden Park Road junction
  • Phase 2 – Service Road to Chaddesden Lane
  • Phase 3 – Chaddesden Lane to Sunny Grove
  • Phase 4 – Sunny Grove to Lyndhurst Grove
  • Phase 5 – Lyndhurst Grove to Lime Grove
  • Phase 6 – Oregon Way to Acorn Way

Councillor Carmel Swan, Derby City Council cabinet member for climate change, transport and sustainability, said: “We’re committed to delivering quality transport infrastructure that allows for easier sustainable travel. The resurfacing of Nottingham Road is the next step in this wider scheme that will deliver clear improvements along a key route between the city centre and surrounding neighbourhoods.

“I’m aware that these works are taking place in the heart of a residential area and therefore will cause some disruption for residents, but please rest assured that we have done all we can to minimise disruption and will continue to keep you updated as the resurfacing progresses.”

The work is expected to begin on Monday, February 3, following the resurfacing of Derby Road. The timing of each phase is subject to change depending on weather conditions.
