Ex-police officer due in court over alleged relationship with vulnerable woman

A former police officer is due in court this week over allegations he engaged in a sexual relationship with a vulnerable woman. Daniel Jackson allegedly met the unnamed female while leading an investigation for Leicestershire Police.

The 38-year-old then “pursued personal contact” and “engaged in a sexual relationship” with her between May and June 2022, a police watchdog has claimed. The Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC), which investigated his actions, described the woman as being “in a vulnerable situation” at the time.

The IOPC conducted a three-month investigation into the former constable’s behaviour after the case was referred to it by Leicestershire Police. It then passed a file of evidence to the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) in September 2022 which decided to charge Jackson.

The former officer, who resigned from the force in September 2022, has been charged with misconduct in a public office. He is set to appear in Leicester Magistrates Court this week.
