Famous Irish sports star’s relation kidnapped into car boot drove 200km and nearly killed over row

This is the shocking aftermath after a gang of thugs broke into a family home, put guns to the heads of the occupants, then kidnapped, beat and shot a relative of a prominent Galway ex-soccer star.

Horrifying images of the injuries sustained by the young man show bruises on his face and body, as well as a gunshot wound on the man’s buttocks.

A source told Galway Beo that the young man was kidnapped from a house in Galway city after the gang of men broke into his family home, put a gun to the heads of the young man and his parents and threatened to ‘kill someone’ if they were not paid €50,000. The source added that the incident was not reported to Gardai.

The man was then bundled into the boot of a car, then driven over 200km to Dublin. It was here where the young man endured a severe beating and was shot in the buttocks before his release.

The bullet wound visible on the man’s buttocks

Images show widespread bruising on the man’s torso, hands, arms, shoulders as well as the wound from a gunshot. Other images seen by Galway Beo show the man’s face, heavily bruised in places, as well as a bloodied scalp.

The victim of the brutal assault and kidnapping is related to a well-known Irish former-soccer player who was on the books for a big Premier League team in the 1990s but didn’t make the cut before going onto play for several high-profile football teams in a long career.

Bruising on the man’s back

The source told Galway Beo: “Dublin fellas went to the young man’s house armed with guns, and broke in. The gang held guns to the man and his parents’ heads, and then told them that they ‘want €50,000 or they’re killing someone’.

“They put him in the boot of a car and brought him back to Dublin where they held him, beat him and shot him. He’s awful lucky to be alive. And they did all this undetected.”

Galway Beo understands the incident was the result of a gang row.
