First issues message to Stoke-on-Trent passengers as snow wreaks havoc

Bus operator First has told passengers services will only be using ‘main roads’ after heavy snow has wreaked havoc across the Potteries. It comes following reports has ‘got stuck’ on Beverley Drive in Bentilee.

Elsewhere and there have been reports of a bus breaking down on Chell’s Biddulph Road. Now First has told passengers it will only be able to use certain routes across North Staffordshire.

A post on social media states: “Due to snow fall overnight, our bus services will be sticking to main roads only.”

A statement on its official website says ‘services are severely disrupted’ due to the snow fall.

Elsewhere and the A53 Buxton Road between Thorncliffe and Ladmanlow is ‘impassable’ due to snow while there has been flooding on the A522 in Beamhurst. In addition it has been reported there are 20 lorries stuck on the A53 through Loggerheads.

This morning has also seen huge delays all across Stoke-on-Trent, Newcastle and the Moorlands. As of 9.15am and it was reported the snow had cleared on Beverley Drive.
