A clingfilm-wrapped parcel containing drugs and a drone were found in the car of a man who led police on a chase into Leicestershire. Theo Powell had been spotted by officers aiming to root out drug supply across the Midlands.
Powell was in a hire car on the M6 when he was spotted by officers from Warwickshire Police on Thursday, November 21 last year. The 24-year-old fled and led officers on a pursuit that saw him cross the border from Warwickshire into Leicestershire.
The chase only came to an end when officers brought Powell to a stop in Burbage’s Amber Way, near Hinckley. Inside the hire car, police found a parcel containing drugs wrapped in clingfilm, as well as an aerial drone.

Searches at Powell’s home in Bromsgrove Road, Redditch, uncovered further links to drug supply. Warwickshire Police said a “large package containing drugs” was recovered from the scene.
Powell was charged with possession with intent to supply Class A, B and C drugs, dangerous driving, failing to stop for police and acquiring or possessing criminal property. He appeared at Warwick Crown Court where he was jailed for five years.
Investigating officer, Detective Constable Matthew Rapkins from the Serious Organised Crime team, said: “The supply of drugs is a crime that has a huge impact on the most vulnerable members of our community.
“We will proactively target people who we believe to be involved in drugs and use the powers we have to make sure their activity is disrupted. We welcome the sentence handed down by the court and encourage anyone with information about drug dealing in their community to contact us.”
