Frome council invites residents to shape future plans at January meeting

As Frome Town Council gears up for its first full council meeting of 2025, residents are being urged to step up and make their voices heard on critical issues, from the 2025/26 council tax precept to ongoing housing developments in the area.

Frome Town Council holds a full council meeting each month, with options to attend in person at the town hall, or online via Zoom. There are also regular meetings of the council’s Planning Committee and Oversight Committee. Members of the public are welcome to attend any of the meetings and are invited to browse the agenda for each meeting, published a minimum of one week before the meeting date.

Cllr Steve Tanner, leader of the town council, said: “We value the input of residents at our meetings enormously and we’d like to see more people come along to share their thoughts, to inform the decisions we take on your behalf.

“On the agenda for the first full council meeting of 2025 is the council tax precept for 2025/26, which we know is a particularly important topic for many people. Likewise, we know people have strong feelings about housing developments in and around Frome, and we welcome residents to attend our regular planning committee meetings throughout the year. FTC isn’t responsible for taking final planning decisions, but we can and have been effective on residents’ behalf in the past and will continue to advocate for our town, with your help. Finally, the oversight committee meets regularly to ensure the council stays ‘on track’, true to its objectives and goals and regularly reviews its policies and procedures.”

FTC council meetings take place on January 15, March 12 and February 12. Planning meetings take place on January 9 and 30 and February 27. The oversight committee meets on January 29 and March 19.

Some meetings will require booking for in-person attendance; this will be indicated on the listing for the meeting in question, on the FTC website. To find out more about forthcoming meetings, browse meeting agendas and sign up to attend where required, visit bit.ly/FTC-council-meetings.
