More than a dozen bus routes have been disrupted by flooding across Leicestershire. Roads were left underwater after sleety showers swept through the county overnight from Sunday (January 5) into this morning (Monday, January 6).
Leicestershire Police has warned the A50 from Junction 22 of the M1 towards Markfield is “currently impassable” due to flood water. Three major bus operators – Arriva Midlands, Kinchbus and Centrebus – have been forced to cancel or divert services.
Routes across Leicester, Loughborough, Melton and Market Harborough are all affected. Passengers are being urged to check before travelling.

Arriva Midlands has confirmed its Service 49 to Fleckney is now terminating at Wigston Harcourt, while the 84 Lutterworth service cannot serve stops in Cosby including Shuttleworth Lane and Condor Close. The company’s X3 and X31 services to Market Harborough are being diverted via the A6, bypassing Great Glen.
Centrebus has suspended routes LC1, 55, 26 and 24. The operator said flooding across its network has been compounded by heavy snow. Multiple flood alerts are in place across the county this morning, including red alerts where flooding is expected.

Arriva Midlands has announced the following diversions:
- 49 (Fleckney) – Services terminating at Wigston Harcourt and will not serve Kilby, Fleckney, or Wistow
- 84 (Lutterworth) – Flooding in Cosby means Shuttleworth Lane and Condor Close stops will not be served
- 85 (Countesthorpe) – Services will terminate at Countesthorpe Square, with no stops at South Wigston
- X3/X31 (Market Harborough) – Buses are bypassing Great Glen via the A6, heading directly towards Kibworth and Market Harborough
- 31/31A (Oadby) – Not serving Rosemead Drive, Wigston Road, or Brabazon Road
- 5A (Melton) – Asfordby will not be served
Centrebus routes affected:
- LC1 – Currently not operating due to a road traffic collision (RTC)
- A1 – Closed between Newark and Grantham
- A607 – Closed between Grantham and Melton
- A6006 – Closed near Asfordby
- MC1 and MC2 – Delays reported
- 55, 26, and 24 services – Currently suspended
Kinchbus services affected:
- Kinchbus 2 – Unable to serve Sileby. Cannot serve Babington Road, Grove Lane/Melton Road, and Sileby Road in Barrow, and Hayhill Industrial Estate
- Kinchbus 5 – Unable to serve Derby Road and Alan Moss Road
- Kinchbus 9 – Service suspended due to flooding on A60 at Bunny
- Kinchbus 11 & 12 – Unable to serve Forest Road and Valley Road
- Sprint & Campus Shuttle – Unable to serve University Campus from Holywell Park
- D Laylor Derby – Unable to serve Derby Road (Loughborough) and Hathern
- Nottbus on Demand (West Rushcliffe Zone) – Currently unable to operate
