Families have raised concerns over drug dealers and gangs in their neighbourhood. Those were among the top problems voiced by residents living around Hanley Park.
This week and Staffordshire Police are setting up a mobile police station in Shelton to give more families the chance to raise any further concerns. The issues were presented to the force as cops went out on patrol around Hanley Park and surrounding streets.
During the initiative, which saw the force link up with an anti-social behaviour officer from Stoke-on-Trent City Council, fly-tipping was spotted and cleared in an alleyway off Conway Street, in Shelton. Neighbourhood officers say the top issues raised by residents during the patrol were drug-dealing and drug-taking, littering and fly-tipping, along with gangs and groups hanging around.
The latest crime statistics for Hanley Park and Shelton show there were 78 violent offences reported, 25 incidents of anti-social behaviour, 14 public order and 10 reports of criminal damage and arson in November. It represents a dip in crimes reported compared with September and October. The mobile police station will be running in the area on Wednesday (January 15).
