Gardai looking into bizarre Galway house incident hoping to catch culprit red handed

Gardai have launched an investigation following a bizarre incident in a Galway town this week which saw paint poured on the front door of a property in Tuam.

The incident happened between 10:30pm on Thursday January 2 and 2:30pm on Sunday January 5 at a house in the Weir Road area of Tuam.

An Garda Siochana are making enquiries for information on the strange incident as they released an appeal to the public this week.

A spokesperson said: “Between 10.30pm on Thursday the 2nd and 2.30pm on Sunday the 5th of January paint was poured on the front door of a house in Cuirt Na Cora, Weir Road in Tuam. Anyone who may have witnessed this incident or with any other information is asked to contact Tuam Garda Station on 093-70840.”

Meanwhile further incidents across Galway have seen gardai release enquiries to the public.

On Tuesday the 31st of December at approximately 2am a window in a property on Lower Abbeygate Street in Galway City was smashed.

Anyone who may have witnessed this incident or with any other information is asked to contact Galway Garda Station on 091-538000.

Elsewhere, on Saturday the 4th of January between 8am and 1pm, a quantity of diesel was stolen from an 11G while parked at Lissacarra, Kilkerrin in Ballinasloe. Anyone who may have witnessed this incident or with any other information is asked to contact Ballinasloe Garda Station on 090-9631890.

In a separate incident on Sunday the 5th of January at 7.30pm, a two vehicle crash occurred on the intersection of Headford Road and Bother Na Dreabh. Gardai are appealing for any witnesses who can shed light on the circumstances surrounding this collision to contact the Road Policing Unit in North Western Regional HQ on 091 33724.

Elsewhere, gardaí are appealing for witnesses and any information that may assist the Garda investigation in relation to suspected arson incident to agricultural sheds that occurred at Cahergowan, Claregalway, Co Galway on Tuesday 31st December 2024. At approximately 10:20pm on this date, Gardaí received a report that there was shed on fire at Cahergowan, Claregalway, Co Galway with the Fire Service attending the scene.
