Hamilton pensioner dies after being found ‘seriously injured’ inside house

A 78-year-old woman has died after being found “seriously injured” inside a Hamilton property.

Emergency services were called to the property on Gilmour Drive just after 8pm on Wednesday, January 15, however the woman was sadly pronounced dead.

Police are currently treating the pensioner’s death as unexplained and a post-mortem will be carried out in due course.

A 49-year-old man has been arrested in connection with an alleged assault as police continue to investigate the incident.

Anyone with concerns has been told they can approach officers on the scene

A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: “Around 8.25pm on Wednesday, January 15, 2025, we were called to a report of a woman seriously injured within a house in Gilmour Drive, Hamilton.

“Emergency services attended and a 78-year-old woman was pronounced dead. The death is being treated as unexplained and a post-mortem examination will be carried out.

“Officers remain at the scene and anyone with any concerns can approach these officers.

“A 49-year-old woman has been arrested in connection with assault.

“Enquiries are ongoing.”
