An unfortunate Edinburgh driver left their car stuck on an embankment next to a canal over the weekend.
The electric SUV was left balancing on two wheels on the steep embankment next to the Union Canal in Ratho on Saturday, January 4. Footage shared to social media shows the vehicle near the water having crossed a footpath close to Ratho Marina.

Another image was also shared in a local group with the car pictured dangerously close to toppling into the water with several boats in the background as stunned passers-by watched on.
It remains a mystery how the vehicle came to a stop so close to the canal, with metal railings separating the path from the jetty blocking the driver’s side door from opening.
The incident came after multiple weather warnings for snow and ice were issued over the weekend. Several communities in the west of the city saw snowfall on Saturday and Sunday morning which may have contributed to the near-miss.
