Hillwalker stretchered off Scots mountainside after suffering leg injury in freezing conditions

A walker had to be stretchered off of a Scots hillside by rescue volunteers after suffering a leg injury.

Emergency services were called to Ben Venue, near Loch Katrine, in the Trossachs, on Thursday afternoon.

Volunteers from Lomond Mountain Rescue Team (Lomond MRT) were then called in to assist the rescue the walkers who had injured their lower leg.

The rescue team put the injured walker inside a bivvy bag to keep them warm in the freezing conditions before carrying them down the hillside.

The Scottish Ambulance Service awaited the walker and rescue team and transferred them to hospital.

A spokesperson for Lomond MRT said: “After initial assessment and treatment, the casualty was stretchered off the hill to a waiting ambulance for transfer to hospital.
