Motorists were facing huge delays on the M6 during the Monday morning rush-hour. Drivers were told to ‘allow extra journey time’ as they were warned of 60 minute delays on the busy motorway.
Two lanes were closed on the southbound carriageway at J8 for the M5. National Highways said this was “due to a lorry in lane two”, and explained: “The vehicle cannot be moved, so recovery is en route.”
The post on its X feed added: “There are 60 minute delays on approach, so please allow extra journey time.”

According to traffic monitoring site Inrix, congestion was back to J10a (M54). It stated: “Travel time is around 50 minutes. Lanes one and two (of three) are closed. A broken down lorry has also occurred within this stretch.”

West Midlands Roads has also posted about the incident and warned of “delays on approach”. It added: “Local impacts possible: M6 J9 (A461 Wood Green Rd, Bescot Rd), M6 J10 (A454 Black Country Route, Wolverhampton Rd).”
