Emergency services closed a road in Keresley while dealing with a 999 call as smoke filled the area. Bennetts Road was closed for almost an hour last night (January 14).
West Midlands Fire Service (WMFS) has confirmed to CoventryLive that a fire engine and two brigade response vehicles responded to 999 calls that reported smoke billowing from a double-decker National Express bus.
Two covering jets were used as a precaution, and the bus battery was isolated by firefighters. The fire, a WMFS spokesperson, said was started accidentally.

The WMFS spokesperson explained: “Shortly after 6.15pm on Tuesday 14 January, we responded to Bennetts Road in the Keresley area of Coventry.
“A fire engine and two brigade response vehicles from Foleshill and Coventry stations responded, arriving to find smoke coming from a double-decker bus.
“Two covering jets were used as a precaution, and the bus battery was isolated by firefighters. The fire is believed to have started accidentally.
“This incident was left with National Express engineers. Bennetts Road was reopened after we left the scene at 6.51pm.”
