Laceby dealership plans changes to site – and it could be good news for residents

A Laceby car garage is planning a mini shake-up of its facilities, though customers may not notice much change.

Marshall Motor Group has applied to make a series of alterations, demolish stores and build two new buildings at its BMW, Mini and Motorrad dealership off Grimsby Road. The development would create a new valet and wash bay area in the site’s south-west corner.

This, and an overnight delivery storage building would be for staff only at the Marshall BMW Garage. A substation would also be installed, two lean-to extensions to a workshop area attached to the main showroom building removed, and vehicle and personnel doors moved to improve the layout to workshop and back of house facilities.

Customer access and parking spaces will remain the same, and the showrooms are not being enlarged. The application document details that the garage employs 68 full-time staff currently, and this will remain the case after the changes.

Compound parking spaces are proposed to increase, from 30 to 36, and ten new cycle spaces are also planned. Residents of nearby cul-de-sacs may welcome this. They have previously raised concern about the perceived number of staff parking on their roads, despite the garage running a shuttle service for staff from a car park further away.
