A couple are quitting their North Staffordshire pub tonight. Neil and Nic Casewell had been expected to keep the Rose & Crown, in Biddulph Moor, open until January 27 after announcing their impending departure in November.
But their leaving date has now been brought forward to tonight following more than two years in charge. The New Street venue has been closed on Wednesday and Thursday this week before reopening from 3pm today.
It comes as hospitality chain Joule’s Brewery has already appointed a replacement tenant.
In a social media message to drinkers, Neil and Nic stated: “In a sad turn of events we have decided to come away from the pub sooner rather than later. As a result we are opening on Friday at 3pm for our final evening of trading.
“Whatever is left on is all that we have. The back bar and wine fridge is well stocked and there will be some offers going up to try to run down as much as we can on Friday. We would prefer cash, if possible. If you can make it on Friday then please do come and see us for a final farewell drink and we would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for their support and happy times during our tenure at the Rose & Crown.”
