Live: Bus catches fire as plumes of smoke seen across Plymouth

A fire has broken out in Plymouth this afternoon, Thursday, January 16. Emergency services are currently at the scene of a bus fire on Budshead Road and a road closure has been put in place while firefighters battle the blaze.

PlymouthLive has been told by one witness: “You can see the smoke from Saltash. Looks like a lorry that’s caught fire just before you get into Vosa police have closed the road. Top of Budshead Road off West Park closed”.

Another person has said: “There’s big plumes of smoke in Ernesettle – near Agaton House. Top of Budshead Road is closed.”

A spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Police said: “Police were notified at around 2.10pm today to reports of a fire on a bus on Budshead Road in Plymouth.

“A road closure has been put on at Jubilee Road and Budshead Road while emergency services deal with the incident. No injuries have been reported.”

Roads and traffic monitoring site, Inrix, reports: “Budshead Road in both directions closed due to vehicle fire between Jubilee Road and B3413 Crownhill Road. Traffic is coping well.”
