Live updates as ‘suspicious package’ causes evacuation of homes and bus station near Cambridgeshire

A ‘suspicious package’ in a town near the Cambridgeshire border has led police to evacuate homes and a bus station. Police officers are at St Andrew’s Street North, Bury St Edmunds, following the discovery.

The building involved and neighbouring buildings, including some homes, have been evacuated while investigations are underway. The bus station has also been evacuated and is currently closed.

An Explosive Ordinance Disposal team is attending the scene. Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service is also at the scene.

The road is closed. Police officers have asked residents and road users to avoid St Andrew’s Street North.
