It’s now been 60 years since the year 1965, but for generations who were there and remember, it probably won’t feel like that long ago. But as 2025 gets underway, we’ve delved into the archives once more to take a look back at what life in the city was like back in 1965.
For context, 1965 was the year film stars Robert Downey Jr and Brooke Shields were born, movies like The Sound of Music hit cinemas and The Beatles released Help! For many, it’s hard to believe 1965 was 60 years ago – but these images are bound to stir up some memories.
Taken throughout that year, in our photos you may spot someone you know or what life was like as it is captured here. So far, we’ve already taken a look at Liverpool life in 1995, as well as in 1985 and more recently 1975.
