Locals demand new 20mph limit on speed-hit Coventry estate

Locals are demanding a speed limit cut on their estate in Coventry. A petition has been launched asking for a new 20mph limit on Bannerbrook Park.

Following a poll among locals, which was backed by more than 80 per cent on social media, residents have asked the council to help cut the speed limit around their estate. They have set-up a petition on the council’s website.

It urges decision makers to carry out a safety assessment of the estate, which was formerly the Massey Ferguson site. This is with a view to cut the speed limit.

The petition deadline is February 11 and more details can be found on the council’s website here

They hope to secure enough support to force the issue to be debated by councillors. The online petition reads: “We the undersigned petition the Council to lower the speed limit to 20mph on Bannerbrook Park.

“We call on the council to work with residents and Councillors to conduct a traffic safety assessment of Bannerbrook Park. Install clear 20mph signage and launch community awareness campaigns to ensure drivers respect the new limit.”
