A major park and ride site in Nottingham has been closed due to flooding risk, as heavy rain has hit the county. Queens Park and Ride site is closed on Monday, January 6, as the premises risk flooding.
Nottingham City Transport (NCT) said: “We’ve been notified by Nottingham City Council that Queens Drive Park & Ride Site will be closed today (Monday 6th January) due to the risk of the site flooding. Alternative NCT Park & Ride to the City Centre is available at the Racecourse (NG2 4BE).”
Across Nottinghamshire, there are 25 flood warnings, meaning flooding is expected, and 25 flood alerts, meaning flooding is possible, in place as of midday on Monday. These came as Nottinghamshire was battered by heavy rain, with a Met Office yellow weather warning active overnight and throughout the morning on Friday.
Queens Drive Park and Ride is located off the banks of the River Trent, across the road from the Riverside Retail Park. The site is served by the NCT 49 bus from the Boots Site to City and by Medilink 2, which travels between Queens Drive Park and Ride and the QMC and City Hospitals.
CT4N, which operates the Medilink service, said: “Medilink 2 – Queens Drive P&R is closed due to risk of flooding. There are no issues on Medilink 1.
“Road conditions are poor this morning with heavy patchy water in places. Temperatures are low so our teams will be taking their time.”
