The new year is well and truly underway and so are a number of roadwork schemes across Cornwall which drivers need to be aware of. After a Christmas break, where no works were carried out, five schemes have kicked off 2025 and are expected to last for several months.
Wales & West Utilities are carrying out gas works in several towns in Cornwall, resulting in road closures and traffic controls being put in place. In some places, delays and works are expected to last for up to four or five months.
The utility firm said that while inconvenient, the works are “essential to ensure the gas is kept flowing safely to heat and power local homes and businesses, keeping people safe and warm for generations to come.”
Other schemes of work which have started include those as part of the Mid Cornwall Metro project in Newquay and upgrade works to the Saltash Tunnel. So, we’ve put together a list of all the major roadwork schemes which have started in Cornwall in 2025.
