Man, 37, charged after attempted abduction of girl, 3, in Wolverhampton

A man has charged following an attempted abduction of a child in the West Midlands. The incident took place last Thursday, January 9.

Police were called to reports of an attempt was made to abduct a three-year-old girl in Leicester Street, Wolverhampton, on that day. Now, a man has been charged with that alleged offence.

Richard Stacey, aged 37, has been charged with attempted child abduction. He’s also been charged with assault and affray.

The child was not injured. She and her family continue to receive support from West Midlands Police.

Stacey has been remanded into custody to appear at Walsall Magistrates Court tomorrow (January 13). West Midlands Police announced today on Sunday (January 12) that Stacey had been charged.

A force spokesperson said: “We have charged a man for the attempted abduction of a three-year-old girl in Leicester Street, Wolverhampton on Thursday, January 9. Richard Stacey, 37, has been charged with attempted child abduction, assault, and affray.

“The 37-year-old has been remanded in custody to appear at Walsall Magistrates Court tomorrow (Monday). Thankfully, the child was not injured and we’re continuing to offer support to her and her family.”
