Man, 40s, seriously injured after being hit by car in Co Tipperary

A man was rushed to hospital after being struck by a car while walking on a road in Co Tipperary last night.

The man, in his 40s, was a pedestrian on the busy N62 road in Gornagowna, between Roscrea and Templemore, when he was hit and seriously injured. The collision occurred at around 10.30 pm.

He was rushed to University Hospital Limerick for treatment of injuries which have been described by Gardaí as serious.

The road between Roscrea and Templemore was closed overnight for a technical examination of the scene to be carried out by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators. The road has since reopened.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to the collision and have asked anyone with information to come forward.

A Garda spokesperson said: “Any persons who may have witnessed the collision in Gortnagowna, or were in the area between 10 and 11pm should make contact with the investigating Gardaí.

“Additionally, any road users with dash-cam footage from the area at the time of the incident are asked to make that footage available.
