A man has been arrested after a woman was reported to have been attacked in a Tipton home. Two police officers were also ‘assaulted’ while detaining the suspect in Laburnum Road.
A Taser was deployed during the incident, which happened just before 7pm on Sunday, January 12. However police said it was ‘ineffective’.
A man in his 40s was now being quizzed on suspicion of non-fatal strangulation, two counts of assaulting a police officer and resisting arrest. He remains in police custody as enquiries continue.

A West Midlands Police spokesperson said: “We were called to a report of an assault on a woman at a property in Laburnum Road, Tipton, at just before 7pm yesterday. Officers attended and as a suspect was being detained, two officers were assaulted.
“During the incident a Taser was deployed, but was ineffective. No-one required hospital treatment and a man in his 40s was arrested.
“The man was arrested on suspicion of non-fatal strangulation, two counts of assaulting a police officer and resisting arrest. He remains in police custody as enquiries are continuing.”
