Man arrested in Connolly Station incident released without charge

A man arrested during an incident at Connolly Station on Wednesday evening has now been released without charge.

Gardaí received report of a male passenger in possession of a suspect firearm on a train arriving into the station at approximately 6:20pm on Wednesday evening.

It resulted in the temporary suspension of all services through the station as Gardaí attended the incident. A man, aged in his 50’s, was arrested at the scene.

Gardai confirmed today that the man has now been released without charge and a file will be sent to the DPP.

A garda spokesperson said: “The male (50s) arrested in relation to this incident has been released without charge. A file will be prepared for the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions. Investigations are ongoing.”
