Man dies after van overturned in Barnstaple crash

A man has died following a crash in Barnstaple at the end of last year. The collision involved a DFSK Loadhopper van on the B3232, near Roundswell Roundabout at around 12.05pm on December 30.

The driver, a man in his 50s from Barnstaple, was airlifted to hospital after sustaining serious injuries. Devon and Cornwall Police has since confirmed the man died in hospital on January 2.

The force are still investigating the collision and are appealing for information from witnesses. Officers are also keen to hear from anyone with dashcam footage.

Devon and Cornwall Police said: “A man has died after being involved in a single vehicle collision in Barnstaple on 30 December. Officers were called at 12.05pm after the incident involving a DFSK Loadhopper van on the B3232 near Roundswell Roundabout. The van overturned and ended up on its side.

“The driver, a man in his 50s from Barnstaple, sustained serious injuries and was airlifted to Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital. Sadly, he died in hospital on 2 January.

“Officers continue to investigate the circumstances of the incident and are asking for any witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage to get in touch. Please contact police online or by telephone on 101, quoting reference 50240326123.”
